Summary of content: Waiting At The Door Dog Poem

Waiting at the door is a poem by Jean M Chaff written in 2015, a touching poem about the affection and love between the owner and the dog.  The poem is a dog’s narration of a deep friendship with its owner. From an early age, the dog was brought home by its owner and loved. They shared a good time together, but time passed quickly and it was time for the dog to leave. The dog knows that his owner will miss him very much and feels the pain of no longer seeing him waiting at the door. Even so, he thanked his master’s love for freeing his soul. He comforts them that they will meet again in heaven, where he will wait at the door to greet his master.

Here is the full text of the poem: Waiting At The Door

I was just a pup when we first met,
I loved you from the start
You picked me up and took me home
and placed me in your heart.
Good times we had together,
we shared all life could throw,
But years passed all too quickly,
my time has come to go.
I know how much you miss me,
I know your heart is sore
I see the tears that fall
when I’m not Waiting at the Door.
You always did the best for me,
your love was plain to see
For even though it broke your heart,
you set my spirit free.
So please be brave without me,
one day we’ll meet once more.
For when you’re called to Heaven,
I’ll be Waiting at the Door.
